Why Courting is the Way to Go

The courting vs. dating debate has long been a source of controversy. While some people find courting outdated, and too serious, others view dating as flighty and too reckless. Here’s the what’s what for each, and why courting is the right choice.

Dating is:

  • Usually not serious
  • Isn’t geared towards marriage
  • Doesn’t help relationships last
  • Fills a selfish need
  • Isn’t usually long-term
  • Doesn’t involve the key virtue of chastity till marriage
  • Isn’t committed
  • Is usually physically involved

Courting is:

  • when both parties involved know it is geared towards marriage
  • between both parties and their families
  • involves the key virtue of chastity till marriage
  • Isn’t physically involved
  • Is serious
  • Helps a relationship last
  • Helps both parties learn more on their walk towards Christ
  • Is committed
  • Is spiritually and emotionally fulfilling

Need I say more? Courting is the option to go for no matter what religion you are or aren’t a part of, and is definitely helpful for everyone involved. There will be less heartbreak, and more love.
